Graphical TDR & Fault Locator

Pro400™ Graphical TDR and Fault Locator

The Armada Technologies Pro400™ Graphical TDR is a compact, professional cable tester designed to quickly identify cable faults, measure cable lengths, and locate shorts and opens in metallic cables up to 3,000 feet. Built for contractors and technicians, the Pro400 turns complex cable diagnostics into an easy-to-read graphical display that shows cable events and their distance from the test point.

The Pro400 works with a wide range of cable types, including twisted pair, coaxial, LAN cabling, and 2-wire irrigation control cable, and supports 50, 75, and 100-ohm cables. Simply connect the test leads to the cable, select the appropriate cable impedance, and the graphical display provides a clear picture of what’s happening along the cable.

Beyond fault detection, the Pro400 also includes a standard analog tracing-tone generator, allowing technicians to use a compatible tone probe to identify and locate a cable’s termination point. With adjustable gain and display range, selectable cable impedance, Vp calibration, a backlit LCD, and a compact weather- and dust-resistant housing, the Pro400 packs professional cable diagnostics into a lightweight tool weighing less than one pound.

Overview

The Pro400 combines Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) with traditional cable tracing in one portable instrument.

As a TDR, the Pro400 sends a test signal through a cable and analyzes the signal’s reflection to identify changes in the cable. The graphical display allows technicians to quickly see opens, shorts, and other cable events, while also showing the approximate distance to the problem.

The Pro400 can test cables up to 3,000 feet and works with 50, 75, and 100-ohm cable types. Its adjustable gain and display range allow users to fine-tune the screen for different cables and testing conditions, while Vp calibration from 20–99% helps improve distance measurements based on the cable being tested.

When fault testing isn’t enough, the built-in analog tone generator can transmit a tracing signal onto the cable. A compatible tone probe can then be used to follow the cable and identify its termination point.

At less than one pound, with a backlit LCD and IP54-rated weather and dust protection, the Pro400 is designed to provide serious cable-testing capability without the size or complexity of larger test equipment.
