Pro871C™ Underground Cable Locator
The Armada Technologies Pro871C™ Underground Cable Locator is a versatile, professional-grade locating system designed to help contractors and maintenance personnel quickly trace and identify underground cables. With multiple locating methods, selectable reception modes, and enhanced inductive performance, the Pro871C provides the flexibility needed to locate a wide variety of buried wiring without relying solely on direct electrical connections.
The Pro871C features two direct-connection frequencies—2 kHz and 33 kHz—along with two inductive locating options: broadcast antenna and the IC4 Tuned Inductive Clamp. The IC4 clamp delivers up to 5 times more tracing power into a cable than original models, making it especially useful when a direct connection isn’t practical.
The system also includes passive 50/60Hz AC tracking, allowing technicians to identify and follow energized electrical cables without connecting the transmitter directly to the circuit. Selectable null or peak reception helps users pinpoint cable locations, while audible and visual signal indicators provide multiple ways to monitor the locating signal.
Overview
The Pro871C is designed to give contractors multiple ways to locate underground cabling, depending on the job and the accessibility of the wire.
For standard direct connection, the transmitter can be connected to the target wire and ground using one of the two available frequencies. When direct connection isn’t convenient or appropriate, the Pro871C can use inductive locating through either the broadcast antenna or the IC4 Tuned Inductive Clamp.
The IC4 clamp is a major advantage of the Pro871C. Its enhanced design can inject 5 times more tracing power into a cable than original models, helping improve inductive signal strength without requiring a direct electrical connection to the conductor.
The Pro871C also provides passive 50/60Hz AC tracking, allowing technicians to follow energized power cables without using the transmitter. For precision locating, users can switch between null and peak reception to help identify and pinpoint the cable’s position.
A built-in speaker, included stereo headset, and visual signal indicators give technicians multiple ways to monitor the locating signal. The slim, custom-molded steel spine case provides convenient protection and portability for field work.

Product FAQ
The Pro871C is an underground cable locator designed to trace and identify buried metallic cabling, including electrical, CATV, telephone, and lighting cables.
Null and peak are two receiver response modes that give technicians different ways to interpret the locating signal. Selecting between them can help with pinpointing the cable’s underground position.
Inductive locating allows a tracing signal to be coupled onto a cable without making a direct electrical connection. This can be particularly useful when the cable is difficult to access or when a non-contact connection is preferred.
The Pro871C is designed for contractors, utility and maintenance personnel, electricians, cable technicians, and other professionals who need to trace underground cabling.
